2010 Guide to Chambers' Complaints Handling
Cost: £15.00

This course provides an overview guide to the new Complaints Handling regime for Chambers which came into effect on the 1st May 2008, and includes details of the changes implemented by the Bar Standards Board in March 2009.

Aiming to provide a complete, concise guide to the new arrangements, including the mandatory protocol, guidance and the Bar Standards Board's monitoring powers, this course will help individual barristers familiarise themselves with the new rules, to ensure that Chambers and Sole practitioners are handling complaints appropriately.

In addition, the course offers tools to help you: a sample complaints record, flowchart and checklist.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • Identify “what is a complaint?”
  • Understand the requirements of the Code of Conduct.
  • Understand how to operate an effective complaints procedure.
  • Approach complaints prevention and risk analysis effectively.
  • Comprehend the role of the Bar Standards Board in monitoring and auditing Chambers' complaints procedures.

Level: Introductory to Advanced - suitable for all barristers and Chambers' staff, and with relevant information for both those in Chambers and Sole Practitioners.
