 New Contact Details

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: May 26, 2010 (9:09 am)

As an accredited online CPD provider the majority of our business is conducted wholly online, and it is easy to complete your CPD requirement from registration, to payment, to doing the hours, to collecting your completion certificate without leaving your computer.

Of course, sometimes you need to contact us by post,  and we are happy to accept cheque payments for courses (although that can slow down your access to courses - credit or debit card payment gets you instant access) or you may need to write to us. In those circumstances, you're going to need our current address.

We are moving, so from the 28th May 2010 our new address will be:

Legal Training
90 Woodcote Road
Caversham
Reading
Berkshire
RG4 7EY

Our telephone number remains the same: 0207 5588 247

Our email contact is unchanged: help@legaltraining.co.uk

Please bear with us at the end of May if you are trying to contact us by post or telephone as we will be busy with the move. Online transactions are automated so should be completely unaffected.

 Bar Standards Board CPD Review

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: April 30, 2010 (5:37 pm)

Members of the Bar will be aware of the Bar Standards Board's review of CPD this year, led by Derek Wood QC. The Working Group is examining course quality to establish standards of training from accredited CPD providers like us here at www.legaltraining.co.uk.

If you are interested in finding out more, then take a look at the BSB's website here.

The Bar Standards Board has requested that all accredited CPD providers ask barristers completing their CPD courses during the month of May to complete a questionnaire which will be fed back into the Working Group. We will therefore be forwarding a copy of the questionnaire by e-mail to barristers who complete any of our accredited CPD courses over the next month. We would be grateful for your assistance in relation to this.

If you have any comments or queries in relation to this, or any other matter, please contact us by e-mail to: help@legaltraining.co.uk

 2010 Courses Now Available

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: February 1, 2010 (5:46 pm)

With effect from today, our 2010 courses are now available to buy on the site!

All of our courses are accredited by the Bar Standards Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority for CPD hours, and are suitable for ILEX CPD as well.

Of course, you can continue to access last year's courses if you have already purchased them - simply look in the "My Registered Courses" box when you login.

With training covering a wide range of subject areas, from Criminal to Family Law, a Civil practice to the more specific Property practice area, not to mention IT skills training and a very useful Guide to Chambers' Complaints Handling, there should be training to suit every practice.

 CPD Record Card

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: January 20, 2010 (5:55 pm)

We know that at this time of year, many barristers are completing their CPD record cards in good time for the handing-in deadline of the 31st January. You will find that your completion certificates contain all of the information that you need to add them to your CPD record card.

You can access the completion certificates by logging in to your account with us, then looking under the "My Registered Courses" heading, where you can see all of the courses that you have been registered for, with a little certificate icon, showing you the date that you successfully completed the course assessment; click on the icon and you will be taken to the printable completion certificate.

If you need a copy of the Bar Standards Board's CPD record card, then look no further than this link. It has downloads of all of the relevant documentation, including those vital CPD record cards. We hope that helps. Rest assured that for barristers we sent a confirmation e-mail to the Bar Standards Board as well, when you completed the course, so they have records from us available if there are any queries.

If you have any queries about any of the courses that you have taken with us, please do e-mail help@legaltraining.co.uk and we'll be happy to help.

 Happy New Year!

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: January 1, 2010 (3:56 am)

We'd like to wish you a very Happy New Year, from us at www.legaltraining.co.uk.

Thank you for your custom in 2009 and we hope to be able to offer you more CPD in 2010.

Our courses remain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including the New Year's Day Bank Holiday.

Barristers need to submit their 2009 CPD record cards to the Bar Standards Board by the end of January. If, you were unable to complete your 2009 CPD hours, you might find the information on the Frequently Asked Questions section of the Bar Standards Board website helpful, as it can be possible to apply for an extension of time.

Whilst the VAT rate has increased back up to 17.5% from the 1st January 2010, our basic price of £15 per hour (+VAT) remains the same, so we still offer excellent value for money for our very convenient online training.

With very best wishes for the New Year.

 Countdown to 2010

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: December 27, 2009 (2:50 pm)

With less than 5 days to go until the end of 2009, barristers and legal executives will be turning their minds to the annual question of whether or not they have completed all of their CPD for the year.

Barristers need to finish their 12 hours of CPD for 2009 by the time the clocks strike 12 on New Year's Eve. Then you should submit your CPD record card to the Bar Standards Board by the 31st January 2010. To help, you can download the CPD Record Card here from the BSB website. For New Practitioners, you need to complete your 45 hours within the first 3 years of practice, and your CPD Record Card can be downloaded here from the BSB website.

Legal Executives will find their CPD record keeping even easier, with the more technological "My ILEX" section of the ILEX website, which allows you to enter your CPD hours online. Members of ILEX must complete 12 hours of CPD, and Fellows must complete 16 hours of CPD each year. Given that the ILEX CPD Tutorial Online shop, is now closed until the 6th January, you may find our online CPD training the ideal solution to the end-of-year deadline!

Our courses are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with no closures for the Christmas and New Year period!

With easy online payment, no need to download software, simple to use courses and a printable certificate of completion and invoice when you finish the course, we at www.legaltraining.co.uk offer one of the easiest and most straightforward ways of completing your CPD requirement for 2009!

 Let it Snow...

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: December 21, 2009 (6:09 pm)

Well, recent visitors to our website will have seen the return of our snow for the rest of December. So, if you're feeling the need for a bit of wintery weather inside as well as out, you can indulge in a bit of festive snowflake sprinkling. If it is too reminiscent of your last forays out into the cold December weather, feel free to click the "Stop Snow" button under the login in the top right hand corner of the home page.
Snowflakes

You may well be finding more time on your hands with all of this snow. So, why not finish off your 2009 CPD hours before the festive season really gets into full swing? Our courses are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, come rain or shine (or knee-high snowdrifts) and the beauty of them is that you can complete all of your CPD hours from the comfort of your home/office/Chambers - wherever you have internet access and can see your computer screen. With no technical knowledge required, nothing to download, no complicated software to install, it  really couldn't be easier!

As always, we are available to handle queries throughout the festive season. E-mail remains the best method of contacting us, as your query can be passed to the most appropriate person (help@legaltraining.co.uk), but we are happy to take telephone enquiries too - 0207 5588 247 8am to 10pm every day.

Hopefully our system is self-explanatory, with our easy to use shopping basket, which will automatically calculate any free points under our 12 hours for the price of 9 discount. If you don't need all 12 hours for 2009, you can always carry some over to complete in 2010!

If you are having any problems, then please do check out our Frequently Asked Questions section, which should resolve most issues, or use our step-by-step Help Guide, with  clear screenshots, to guide you through the different aspects of registering, selecting, purchasing and completing our courses.

Not bad for helping a friend to finish off their 2009 CPD hours!

Barristers & Legal Executives - 5 weeks to go

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: November 26, 2009 (12:59 pm)

It's only 4 weeks to Christmas, but that means that you've only got 5 weeks to finish off those last few CPD hours for 2009.

With our easy-to-use online CPD training, we try to make completing your hours as painless as possible. There is no complicated software to install, and no waiting around for documents to arrive (or not) in the Christmas post. Simply follow the easy steps below and you could be starting your accredited CPD training in minutes.

Getting Started

How many CPD hours/points do you need?

Barristers need 12 hours of CPD each year, of which 4 hours must be accredited. We are an accredited CPD provider for the Bar Standards Board, and all of our courses are accredited CPD training for the specified number of hours.

New practitioner Barristers, need to complete a grand total of 45 accredited hours in your first 3 years of practice, and (after 9 hours of Advocacy and 3 hours of Ethics) you can do 33 of those hours with us.

Meanwhile Legal Executives need to complete 16 hours' CPD (Fellows) and 12 hours' CPD (Members). There is no CPD accreditation scheme from ILEX, but you can rely upon our accreditation with the Bar Standards Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority as signifying the quality of our CPD training.

With 28 hours of CPD training available with us here at www.legaltraining.co.uk there should be something to suit you, whether you need all of your CPD hours in these last few weeks, or just the odd hour to complete your record.

Don't forget, we offer instant access, and upon completing the course your completion certificate is immediately available online, so there won't be any hold-ups in finishing off your hours.

 Free £5 Amazon Voucher

Posted by: Legal Training :: Date: October 26, 2009 (10:43 pm)

Have you seen our latest special offer?

Refer a Friend

We know that our customers are loyal and recommend us to their colleagues at work; your word of mouth referrals are a great way to share our easy to use, good value online CPD training.

As a thank you for referring your friends and colleagues to us here at LegalTraining, we are offering you a free £5 Amazon gift voucher for each friend referred by you, who completes a course with us.

It really is very simple, click here for more details. Enter your friend's e-mail address and we will send them a unique link to register as a user with us. To thank them, we will give them £5 off their first course purchase, and once they have finished the course we will send you a £5 Amazon voucher to thank you for referring them.

We only ever send them one e-mail informing them that you have referred them, and we do not add them to a mailing list and never sell or pass on their details to anyone else; so there is no risk in referring them, and you might just earn yourself some money to spend at Amazon, on yourself, or for a Christmas present for someone else (if it's not too early to be thinking about Christmas...)

This is a special offer for one week only - the offer ends on 31st October, so it's an ideal way to help out your friends and colleagues before the end of the Solicitors' CPD Year, and ready for the last 2 months to complete their 2009 CPD for Barristers and Legal Executives.
