Since the standard rate for VAT has been reduced to 15% with effect from the 1st December 2008, you will be seeing lower prices here at www.legaltraining.co.uk.

We think that our prices are great value already, given that you get instant access to your CPD training, when it suits you, but the VAT reduction will give you that extra discount as our courses are priced per CPD hour plus VAT. So the prices will be noticeably lower from Monday 1st December!

Of course, if you want to save even more money, then why not take advantage of our multi-buy discount offer of 12 hours for the price of 9! This gives you a 25%  saving, before you take into account the VAT difference. What is more, you don't even have to use all 12 hours in this CPD year, so if you only need a few hours, you can carry the rest over into the next CPD year, safe in the knowledge that you have made huge savings!

We recommend credit or debit card payments to give you immediate access to the courses, but we are still happy to accept cheques if you prefer to pay in that way; simply download and print out our order form, and follow the instructions on it.

As you probably know, one of the major benefits of online CPD training with us is the fact that if you pay online by credit or debit card you are given instant access to the courses. This is particularly helpful if you want to complete courses in a hurry (such as when the end of year deadline is looming) at weekends or at unusual times of day or night where other CPD providers may be limited to business hours. Our courses are accessible 24 hours a day.

We are aware, however, that not everyone wants to pay by credit or debit card, and many solicitors firms, in particular, would prefer to pay by cheque. So, we have made the process of paying by cheque simpler for you. If you wish to pay by cheque then download our order form from here. Simply fill in a few contact details, and tick the boxes for which courses you want to purchase, and send it back to us with a cheque.

You will be given access to the course(s) as soon as we receive your cheque. Confirmation of course completion will occur once your cheque has cleared, which may take up to 7 days. An e-mail will be sent to let you know as soon as your cheque has cleared.

Of course, if you need faster access then we strongly recommend online payment by credit or debit card via our safe and secure payment partners, Google Checkout and Paypal.

As the deadline for solicitors to complete this year's CPD points is looming,at the end of October, you are probably keen to ensure that you have completed all of your CPD points. You can do up to 12 of your points online and we are fully accredited with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (reference DKR/AMLT).

If you need a lot of points, you may find our Special Offer of "12 hours for the price of 9" a bargain, and an easy way to complete those points - it works out at £10.50 plus VAT per CPD hour!

Equally it is easy to top up your points with our range of 1, 2 and 3 hour courses. You don't even need to leave the comfort of your desk - no travel costs, no setting foot out in the cold and rain, just an hour or two of your time at your computer and you'll be finished.

We hope that you find our straightforward online training system a simple, and budget-conscious way of completing your CPD requirement.

Paying by credit or debit card with our secure payment partners Google Checkout and Paypal gives you instant access to the courses, any time, day or night - no waiting around for office hours to contact us (when you're busy anyway), assessments are marked instantly and completion certificates for your CPD record, and invoices are all available online for you.

Many firms prefer to pay by cheque or bank transfer and we are happy to accommodate this - simply e-mail: help@legaltraining.co.uk for details of who to pay and where to send your cheque.

As always, if you have any queries or comments please contact us: help@legaltraining.co.uk or by telephone to 0207 5588 247.

We have just launched another new course on our website - "2008 Advanced Internet Skills". Working as a companion course to our "2008 Getting the Most Out of the Internet", it also can be studied easily on its own.

Have you ever wondered how to work effectively from home, your office, Chambers and Court?

Well, the Advanced Internet Skills course will provide you with lots of tools and tips to help you to work remotely, and join-up all of your working, so that it really doesn't matter where you are, you can still access the same documents, the same desktop and even print from one location to another!

This course is packed with time-saving advice and suggestions for appropriate freely available software which will save you money, without compromising on substance.

Accredited for 1 CPD point as well, it could be a well-spent hour of your time!

The Bar Standards Board have recently implemented a new Complaints Handling regime for Chambers and Sole Practitioners, which came into effect on the 1st May 2008. Are you up to speed with this important area of Chambers' Practice Management?

Our latest accredited course, "A Guide to Chambers' Complaints Handling" is designed to guide you through the new arrangements and to make things easier for you, with helpful tools, including a sample Complaints Record, an easy to follow flowchart and timeline of the Chambers' Complaints Procedure, and a reminder checklist for setting up (or verifying that you have) a compliant Complaints Procedure.

With one CPD point into the bargain, this course would be useful training for any barrister, from the Head of Chambers to members of Chambers involved with the Complaints procedure, to the most junior tenant who wants to be aware of how the procedure works. It would also be a useful aide memoire for clerks or practice managers, and other members of staff.

We are glad that so many of you are taking up our fantastic discount offer of 12 CPD points for the price of 9 which is not only saving you a lot of money, but is helping you to complete your CPD requirement without leaving the comfort of your home, office or Chambers.

As this has proved so popular, we are continuing the discount, and we have been busy working on improving the ways to place your order.

Now we have a simple checkbox shopping list available if you want to buy more than one course. This works not only for our multi-buy discount offer, but if you want to buy 2 or more courses at any time. Simply log in (or register if you are a new user) and then click on Multi-buy to see the full list of courses. You can then tick the courses you want to buy all in one transaction, rather than several; and if you buy more than 9 CPD hours, the discount is applied automatically.

Of course, you can still buy your courses individually if you prefer, but we hope that the new multi-buy shopping list makes it easier for you.

When we first started LegalTraining 4 years ago, we initially focused more heavily upon barristers' CPD training. Thanks to the quality of our training we still attracted a large number of solicitors and legal executives, and so this year we have re-written our courses to ensure that the material is appropriate to all legal professionals.

We have also become fully accredited CPD providers for the Solicitors Regulation Authority, so solicitors can now complete up to 12 of their 16 hours online with us (the remaining 4 must be face-to-face training).

Our Solicitors Regulation Authority CPD reference is DKR/AMLT which you will need to enter on your CPD training record. You will find this reference on the Course Completion Certificate that you can access on our website once you have successfully completed each course.

ILEX does not accredit CPD providers so legal executives are in the privileged position of being free to select the training that they feel is most appropriate for their practice. Of course, the fact that we are accredited by both the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority, should give legal executives the confidence to know that they are purchasing quality CPD training from us.

Just to let you know that our 2008 courses are now all available to purchase. Don't worry, the previous years' courses that you have purchased are still available to existing customers to view should you so wish, but you can only purchase the 2008 ones from today.

Feel in the need for a spring bargain? How about 25% off the cost of your CPD points for the year? We are offering a special reduced rate of 12 CPD points for the price of 9 this year, if you choose to do all of your CPD points here at LegalTraining. Call it a loyalty discount if you like.

Barristers can complete all 12 of their CPD points online, and we are accredited by the Bar Standards Board for this. Solicitors can complete 12 out of their 16 points online. Legal Executives are required to complete 16 hours CPD (Fellows) or 8 hours CPD (Members), of which half of their points must be in their specialist area; ILEX no longer accredits CPD providers, leaving the choice of provider up to the individual.

We have decided to add a refer a friend feature to the site. We know a number of you have mentioned us to your colleagues already, and we wanted to give you an incentive to do more of it! We decided that the best way of doing that would be to offer your colleagues £5 off the cost of their first course, and as a thank you we'll give you £5 off your next course when they have made their first purchase.

You can refer as many people as you like, getting a £5 voucher for each person who buys, and you can redeem a voucher against each course you buy - in fact we'll do it automatically, oldest first, so that you don't forget. If you refer lots of people, you could get £5 off every course this year. In fact, we decided to give the vouchers a 2 year expiry period, so in fact you could get £5 off every course for the next 2 years. If you are such a prolific referrer that you have no chance of redeeming all of your vouchers in that time, get in touch with us at amanda@legaltraining.co.uk. We'll be glad to sort it out for you.

You can keep track of vouchers that you've earned under your user details. You might not know where this is - just click on your name at the top right when you are logged in. You will then see a "Vouchers" tab.

When you refer someone, if you aren't logged in, be sure to enter the e-mail address that you log in with in the "Your e-mail" field, so that we know it's you and can give you the voucher. We will send your friend a unique link. They need to click on that when they register for us to know it's them. If they don't use that link then I'm afraid our systems have no way of matching them up to your referral. Don't worry, we make it really simple for them though.

We've worked hard to integrate the vouchers in to our payment systems. In Google Checkout, it looks great, with a line for the course and a line for the voucher. In PayPal, it wasn't that simple, and we had to remove the £5 from the total outside of PayPal. Since VAT is added on at the checkout, that makes it a lot less obvious how we got to that figure. Rest assured, the sums are correct!

As usual, we'd love to hear if you have any comments on this.

Hopefully you have noticed the recent arrival of some of our 2008 courses. We are gradually rolling them out, once we have ensured that they are right up to date as there have been some quite radical changes in certain areas since the November update to our 2007 courses. All of our 2008 courses are of course Bar Standards Board accredited for CPD points.

So far we have the 2008 Civil and Criminal courses available for you, and 2 of our Family courses. Watch this space for more 2008 courses coming your way.

For the time being we are keeping the 2007 courses available to purchase, just in case you need them; they will be running in parallel with their new 2008 counterparts, however once the full complement of 2008 courses are available we will be switching over. You can of course still access your historically purchased courses should you so wish.
